- avoid walking around with an inflated title like vp of engineering or cto if you only have a few years of experience, it can spook hiring managers
- if your experience justifies a senior title, explain and sell that context clearly in your resume and to your recruiter
- ask recruiters or hiring managers directly if a position is budgetarily approved before investing time in the interview process
- ask how many other people are currently in the interview process so you understand your competition
- if you get rejected, ask for specific quantifiable feedback instead of vague comments like culture fit so you know what to improve
