lessons learned in leadership during a pandemic
guest: kyle allen, managing partner, nashville office
- ask people how they are doing and actually slow down to listen instead of rushing to fix problems
- stop over engineering check ins, sometimes a short unstructured one on one beats another scheduled group call
- own your mistakes publicly and apologize directly when you get something wrong with a team member
- give feedback by sharing both sides of a situation so the other person does not go on the defense
- redefine what matters during a crisis instead of excusing bad results or sticking to old metrics
