how to navigate job postings
with taylor desseyn (solo)
- before submitting your resume to a job posting, try bcc'ing recruiter contacts and asking if they have connections or are working that role
- if you lack contacts at a company, go ahead and submit your resume but also reach out to the hr manager or recruiter to ask about next steps
- remote policies keep shifting, so apply to onsite roles in a city you want to move to and use a remote contract period to slowly research and relocate
- job descriptions are often stuffed with keywords by hr, so only apply within your actual years of experience and skill level instead of chasing every listed requirement
- spending an hour messaging people at companies with open roles beats spending that same hour mass submitting resumes around town
