contract/contract to hire (solo show)
with taylor desseyn (solo)
- understand the difference between freelancing, where you run your own llc and find your own clients, and contracting, where you work w2 through a recruiter
- expect contracting benefits through a recruiting firm to be decent for single people or couples but not great overall
- before taking a contract to hire role, ask the recruiter how many people they have placed with that company and how well they know the hiring manager
- always ask upfront what the salary will be if you convert from contract to full time, since your hourly rate will be higher than that salary
- look into hourly contract roles right now since more companies are avoiding big salary commitments and keeping staffing flexible
