- treat networking like a meetup where showing up and saying hey is the first step, then engage further in comments
- find a common denominator with someone, like a shared interest, to start a real connection
- keep conference conversations short, five minutes covering what someone does and whether they like it is plenty
- recruiters focus on the body of your resume, not links to portfolios or github, so make that content count
- after meeting people at a conference the follow up afterward is where the real relationship and opportunity happens
