aaron presley on leaving nike, freelancing & finding purpose beyond code
guest: aaron presley, independent consultant, localization and globalization expert, former nike localization architect
- before going independent get your budgeting in order since income will be inconsistent for a while
- consider starting small and local instead of chasing a unicorn startup idea
- networking is a muscle that gets easier the more you choose to show up and be social
- coding skill alone wont be your edge as ai makes writing code easier, so find what else sets you apart
- try contract to hire arrangements since short interview processes rarely reveal how someone will really work out
